Time to Go

A tribute to Eva Cassidy and to all those whom I will never meet.

A chance meeting that never was.

As is true for many, the first time I heard Eva Cassidy something deep within me stirred.

I only heard of Eva’s music after her passing which somehow felt so deeply unfair. It seems to me that she would have been a kindred spirit and, sadly, never really got the accolades that I feel she deserved in her lifetime. I remember chatting about her to friends Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer and them telling me that she had been a good a friend of theirs! I was floored! Only one degree of separation. But “I didn’t see the lightening, then I missed the rainbow, I turned my head around too late.”

This is a song of mourning the things that we never had, but also about the courage to know when your time’s up. xo
